Waypoint Wabash Begins Search for Next Executive Director

The Waypoint Wabash Board is starting the search for their new executive director. Their current executive director, Marilyn Custer-Mitchell will be, as planned, ending her tenure as the organization’s first executive director, this summer. The board is incredibly thankful for all of the work Marilyn has done to make the launch of Waypoint Wabash a reality. “Marilyn’s leadership has been instrumental in making Waypoint successful in its first year of operations”, said Waypoint Board Chairman Jay Driskill. The launch of Waypoint is due to years of work that started with the Wabash County Drug Steering Committee, on which Marilyn has served since 2016. Upon Marilyn completing her service as executive director, she will return to serving as a Waypoint board member. The Waypoint board is excited about beginning year two of operations this year, and looks forward to finding the right candidate to serve as executive director.

Waypoint exists to provide a safe, structured, and stable environment for people recovering from substance use and disorder and its mission is to serve as a waypoint between chaos and living free in safety and structure. Waypoint Wabash is located at 189 N. Wabash Street and opened its doors in fall 2022 after extensive remodeling to the historic house. Waypoint has been serving women with Substance Use Disorder since that time.
